Entel Chemistry Teachers Win Top Experimental Innovation Awards

In September, at the 2026 Yuhang District High School Chemistry Experimental Innovation Competition, Zheng Langlang and Li Qinqin won First Prize for their “Integrated Improvement of Chlorine Gas Property Experiments” and Second Prize for “Exploring the Catalytic Decomposition Mechanism of Hydrogen Peroxide.” Under the theme “Experimental Innovation · Integrated Empowerment,” the competition challenged teachers to reimagine chemistry education. Zheng’s project addressed a common dilemma: chlorine’s high toxicity has forced teachers to rely on videos rather than experiments. The redesigned apparatus reduces leakage risk, enabling students to observe and operate experiments themselves. Li’s project grew from an unexpected classroom anomaly — a brown phenomenon during a hydrogen peroxide decomposition. She designed controlled experiments with pH sensors and digital verification to uncover the catalytic mechanism. Last year, the same duo won a Municipal Second Prize — a testament to the chemistry department’s collaborative, classroom-grounded research culture.
